Laura Henley

I originally from Oklahoma, but have lived several places in my life. I began writing in 2009 when I had a dream about a little girl traveling with her grandmother. In essence that is how Jessie Discovers Christmas was born. I then ventured out into YA and adult romance. I hold a bachelors degree in Fashion Marking and a Masters in Administrative Leadership. I love all things creative and hope to a fulltime writing career.

A Conversation with Lara

How did you find the transition between writing for children and writing for adults? Was it a difficult one?

Writing children books are more difficult because I have to get inside the mind of a child. I have to think "What would a child do in this case?" Writing for adults is somewhat easier because I am an adult and I have certain viewpoints that can be used in my writing. I do however love to write children books because I have a very vivid imagination.

Do you have any more plans for writing for Children?

I do. I plan to produce a children's book yearly. I have one coming out next spring/summer called Jessie loves Daddy. It's about the relationship between father and child. I think in today's society we forget about the good fathers out there.

It sounds like Misty and Drake has a pretty intense story line, what was the inspiration behind their story?

Misty and Drake came about after I won a cover contest from the cover model Courtney Boyett. I took one look at her and The Unknown was born. She was inspiration for this story. This story pained me a little to write because parts of it are based on some truth.

What inspires you to write, what keeps you motivated?

The stories that pop in my head keep me writing. My family, friends, and followers keep me going. Knowing that people love my work is the best thing in the world to me. I couldn't ask for a better gig.

What is next for Lara Henley? What should readers be on the lookout for?

I have several books coming out next year. My first Adult novel Royal Pain will hit e-readers this February/March. I have a thriller coming out fall of next year titled A Killer like me. And the second installment in the Flawed Series The Revealed will be out next spring. I may be able to squeeze in one more.
